Michael Davies is the President and Publisher of Davies Publishing Inc. A fourth-generation Southern Californian whose Great Grandfather was one of the original newspaper publishers in Los Angeles (actually taking the first issue of The Los Angeles Times off the press), Mike has been involved in publishing, education, and continuing medical education for most of his adult life. Before launching this company in 1981, Mike held editorial positions with Springer-Verlag (Heidelberg) and Houghton Mifflin (Los Angeles), served as a member of the Committees on Postgraduate Medical Education and Postgraduate Medical Publications at the UCLA School of Medicine, and pioneered the wide distribution and availability of AMA-approved CME activities through books and periodicals. Mike also has taught at California State University, San Bernardino, University of New Mexico, and UC Riverside. He received bachelor and master's degrees from UC Santa Barbara and the University of New Mexico, respectively, and pursued postgraduate studies at Claremont Graduate University and UC Riverside. He is a member of SDMS, SVU, and AIUM. Mike also serves on the Advisory Board of the International Foundation for Sonography Education and Research (IFSER), a nonprofit organization that promotes the advancement of clinical sonography internationally.
